Children's Vision

It is very important for all children to have their vision checked early. The visual function of young children is crucial to their general development. Many problems can fly under the radar without a vision examination - kids know only their own vision, and often it’s not until they’re older that they compare their sight to others and realise something might be wrong.

We recommend a first examination between the ages of 4 and 5, and earlier if you have concerns. Kids find vision tests fun and engaging, and most of them emerge with beaming smiles!

It’s also important that visual checks are maintained through the teen years, when short-sightedness is most likely to develop. We offer the most advanced techniques to hold this in check.

We have frames for every child’s face - including frames tough enough to withstand the most destructive energetic child!

One of our optometrists, Andrew Robinson, looks after all our younger patients at the practice and he has a special interest in myopia and ortho-k (which is relevant for many younger individuals)! Make an appointment to see him to have your child's vision checked now.
